So blind with pride the world refused to see
The savior God appointed for our race.
Instead of pomp, He came a friend of grief,
Despised, as one from whom men hide their face.
We crowned and robed our king in mockery
And marred His form with punishment undue
We then enthroned our savior on a tree
Though He was spotless, without guilt--Who knew?
When He convicted all men for their sin,
The judge of earth condemned Himself to death.
Then with His blood, He purchased sinful men
And gave forgiveness with His dying breath.
So seek the cross where Christ has borne death’s sting
Look up, O sinners, and behold your King!
